When Edward Roybal was campaigning to be the first Latino from California to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, Margarita, Simon and the Mariachi band were strong supporters and provided musical support for many of Mr Roybal's campaign events and fund raisers.
Margarita continued to perform alnog with her husband Simon Casas and the Mariachi band until her death on January 19, 1965.
