Pick one work of art from your Art Colony portfolio and tell us the story behind it. Why does this piece have meaning to you? What steps did you take to create the piece?

This is a painting from a picture of our first grandson (see left). I was exploring watercolors at the time and because I fell in love with this little guy at first sight, I couldn’t wait to paint his precious little face.

Watercolor isn’t one of my better artistic endeavors, but I did enjoy painting this.

As far as the steps go, I used Arches rough watercolor paper. I sketched very lightly the image onto the paper, then painted with the lightest colors and built up on them until I got the effect I wanted.
